Move together. Call me a taxi!
Move together. We need wood for the winter!
Have fun, you’ll be better!
From black to colors. From felt pen…
…to watercolor pencils
Do not imagine the result. If you want to discover your own artistic expression, you’ll have to follow paths that you don’t know. Always adopt a research attitude.
We ad colors to our people in mouvement
“One should be a painter. As a writer, I feel the beauty, which is almost entirely colour, very subtle, very changeable, running over my pen, as if you poured a large jug of champagne over a hairpin.”
I wish you a colorful week.
Spring is back ! A great source of inspiration !
Using patterns in art
Nature invaded our work table
Starting from wilderness to understand interest of patterns
Goal number 1: to get a lively line !
Bringing patterns into our drawing of people in movement
Lines and patterns in art: visit to the White Cube Gallery to discover artists Sarah Morris and Zhou Li
Tell us why it’s your favorite painting…
“There is in all things a pattern that is part of our universe. It has symmetry, elegance, and grace – these qualities you find always in that the true artist captures. You can find it in the turning of the seasons, the way sand trails along a ridge, in the branch clusters of the creosote bush of the pattern of its leaves. We try to copy these patterns in our lives and in our society, seeking the rhythms, the dances, the forms that comfort.[…]”
Search for patterns around you! Have a good week!
Learning to look at things
Students taking pictures from people in movement
Quick drawing from a person in movement
Drawing five different music
Look closer, look carefully, search for all details. A way to learn to look.
Become creative from a given starting point
Thank you for your attention.
If you want to sing, you have to learn to listen to sounds. If you want to draw, you have to learn to look at things.
I encourage you to look more around you.
If we would be asked before our birth in what kind of world we would like to live, we probably would answer:
” I’d like to be born in a world without discrimination, with equal consideration for all, with parity of salary, with similar care for everybody, with great jobs for all, in accordance to physical and intellectual capacities of each , …”. And so on…
Leave a stone | A current work in progress by ATD-Fourth World-Dublin
Before we are born, we don’t know on which plate of the different scales which measure and compare the human beings we’ll be settled. Among the poor or the rich? The coloured or the white? The intelligent or the stupid? The nice looking or the disabled?
And after our birth?
After being born, each person needs to build a strong identity. So the next question will be : “What makes me unique in a world of seven point five billions individuals?” The common answer is: “I belong to a special tribe”.
But in fact, similarities between human beings are much more than differences. The basic needs are the same for all.
ATD-people are not one kind of people. The reasons to belong to the so called Fourth World are many: being more sensitive, more creative, more personal than the majority. Being provided with other tools than the ones commonly used to follow the main stream. Having encounter problems that are not solved yet,…

A trip to London
Pierre and Fabienne Klein are actually responsible for ATD-Fourth-World-Dublin. In a short time, they will go back to France to endorse other functions in this international movement aimed to eradicate poverty and restaure dignity to the poorest among us. Dann is the guy who will replace Pierre and Fabienne in Dublin. He works for the moment for ATD-London. To make the change easier for everybody, and to promote exchanges and reflexions beyond the local borders, the two groups decided to meet in London.
A program in four steps
Step 1 : Landing and settling In London’s vicinity
Step 2. Meeting in ATD-Center of London for exchange life experiences and develop strategies against poverty. A rich and fruitful moment.
Step 3. Enjoying London’s touristic attractions
Step 4. Convivial reception, organised by myself and my husband Heinz, at c&b Art-London
Pierre Klein and his wife Fabienne will return to France – Dann Kenningam will lead the ATD Center in Dublin
I read this beautifully illustrated book published by ATD-Fourth World Dublin, and discovered some personal life histories told by Dubliner people struggling within complicated situations. I wish all a brighter future.
It was great spending time with you Long, Agate, Paul, Linda, Calvin, Ross. Annemarie, Mark, Lynn, Chloe, Eileen, Christina, Terence, Anthony, Stephen, Amy, Dean, Jason, and all other we had the chance to meet on Friday April 12.
Please note : The philosophical question at the beginning of this article is a concept known as the ‘veil of ignorance’, which goes back to the Enlightenment philosophers, but which was popularized by the American John Rawls in his 1971 treatise, A Theory of Justice.
April 9 and 11
Introduction. To train our hand, we seek to express the specific character of each music by different lines
15 minutes time to capture people in mouvement with our smartphone. The portfolio will be used during our next class.
It may be embarrassing to point our camera in direction of unknown people.
Among those people, one at least in known…:-)
Drawing the body. First exercise: the scarecrow
t’s easy to recognise a human being! The maestria of African artist in stylising people inspired lots of great artists before us. Just to mention Picasso…

End of session
“All that is important is this one moment in movement. Make the moment important, vital, and worth living. Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.”
I wish you to move with pleasure toward our next encounter. .

Six meetings. Six groups of interested people followed me through this huge exhibition.
March 13 – March 20 – March 21 – March 23 – March 27 – March 28
Each tour is a new adventure.
Many thanks to all of you for your attendance, your active participation, your captivating questions and comments.
What matters is what our memory keeps from a common experience.
I’m strewing on this page some pictures, some few words, and of course some of the drawings you kindly made during the visit. Please follow those spare milestones, and I hope they will help you to recall with pleasure what is missing here. I mean: “your” Bonnard, your relation to his art, his life, his time.
Bonnard’s main tools : memory and colours.
A short exercise to notice how memory and sensibility to colours are personal.
A lifelong lover: Marthe de Mouligny.
She was said to be both the muse and the gaoler of Bonnard
How to put a complexe world on a flat canvas?
One minute time to observe “Mirror above a Washstand” (1908) and to draw the lines considered the most important.
Frames, frames inside frames, mirrors, straight and curved lines to build a balanced composition.
Inspiration never comes from nothing.
As a student, Bonnard was nicknamed “Le Nabis très japonard”
All artists were searching for the mystery of colours
The memory to rebuild one’s own reality. Here two interpretations of his house “Ma Roulotte” in Le Vernonnet, close to Giverny and Claude Monnet
Bonnard and the women
Berthe Stählin, Lucienne Dupuis de la Frenelle, Renee de Montchaty, and always Marthe.
She was mysterious and compulsively bathing. Hopping to drown her identity?
The painter’s touch.
Experience overpasses words.
He who sings is not always happy.
In his house “Le Bosquet” located in Le Cannet, in the South.
See art, have a great day

Searching for lines in the landscape | Let’s go outdoor
Always consider your surroundings – landscape – buildings – people – in many different ways.
You did a great job! Thanks for that.
I hope to see again some students who couldn’t attend the class this week.
see art – be an artist – enjoy the life
Hi dear art fellows,
I’m so happy to tell the whole world and beyond that my art studio found a great new place to settle itself and welcome you, art students, art passionate, or just curious about art.
This is the view through the window
Those are some views of the studio..
..and some of the first students attending an art class at Space Quay Heights…
…learning more about lines, lines, all kind of lines…
Folks, search for lines around you. Look at them, Look differently at things.
Read differently the following quote, from political it may become …an artistic one 🙂
“It is a quality of revolutions not to go by old lines or old laws, but to break up both and make new ones.”
I enjoyed very much searching together with you how expressive lines may be…You did a great job!
